Marble fun

Last night we spent some fun time eating pizza together, and then built a great glow in the dark marble tunnel thing.  I don't really know what else to call it, but the boys really enjoyed it and we had agreat time together!  Here's the video of the fun we had!
Also, if you have time check out Sol's Lego Star Wars video that we put on YouTube, the thumbnail should show up in the video bar at the bottom of the page!
So now it's Saturday morning and we're finishing up cartoons before our weekly family breakfast - waffles and fried apples this morning!

The Unknown(s?)

Tonight Thad and I went to my nephew Nick's first "gig." His band, the Unknown, or the Unknown's, were playing at a local church as the opening act for Watching Judas. It was really fun to be there for his first concert, and to watch how excited he got over it all. He played really well, especially since he hasn't even been playing bass for very long! We had a great time, and so wanted to dedicate this blog posting to Nicky P, bassist extrodinaire! We love ya Nick, you did great!

Skiing in the ice

So last Sunday night I went out to Hidden Valley with Jeremy and Steve for their midnight ski. The weather promised to hold out enough that we'd have some snow, and I for one had not skied in several years, so even Hidden Valley was exciting to me! We got there around 10 and planned to try to stay until 2 or so, except for Steve who was planning on working Monday, Jeremy and I had the day off.
The real story was what we discovered when we began skiing. They had a signe notifying us that they would be making snow all night, and what that meant was that every one of the snow guns would be shooting out great amounts of icy water into the air, which would hopefully freeze before it hit the ground. We found that while it did freeze before hitting the ground, it did not freeze before hitting us, thereby freezing on us. Thankfully I brought my goggles, and Jeremy ended up buying some, however Steve left with a very chapped and red-looking face.

We stayed until 1AM.

Happy Valentine's Day to my love!

I started growing my beard while up in Canada at Christmas; both my brothers up there had beards and I was tired of shaving daily! It's been a bit of an abrasive time for Rhonda, she doesn't love whiskerburn the way the boys do! So for Valentines Day I gave Rhonda the gift of a clean-shaven face!
She seemed to like this gift better than some of my previous ones!

As full a beard as I could grow (and handle, really)

Just because you CAN grow a mustache doesn't mean you necessarily SHOULD

The Valentine's Day gift enjoyed!

February and no Snow

Eli and Ez seem to be a little sad that they can't use the snowboards from Grandma and Grandpa Bailey now that our snow is gone... Maybe we'll get a little more snow before the winter is done!

On a side note, many of us are sick right now, so this has the makings of a very restful long weekend! You can pray for Rhonda, Sol, and Ezzie, and that the rest of us don't get ourselves sick while they recover!

Also continue to pray for my mom, Nancy. She's doing well with the chemo treatments on her pancreatic cancer, and we're so thankful for that! We're praying for many years more with her, and the chance to continue to build great family memories! Thanks for all your support and love.

Random Pictures and Thoughts

So it's been a couple weeks again, and I wanted to share some of the happenings around our house. Just last week we celebrated the Year of the Ox, Chinese New Year 4047 or something like that. It was fun to all try to eat with chopsticks and make little lantern decorations! We've been busy with life, as usual, and trying to examine different areas of our lives to see what is necessary and what we can do without. Life just gets so busy, and we really want to make sure we're doing what's truly important with our family. Trying to spend more time at home has become more important to us, and doing things to bond more as a "family." These are the special times we want our boys to remember as they grow and eventually leave our home and spread their wings and take off!

Also, in way of remembrance, my little brother turned 28 on the 10th, and so I had to put a plug in for Garrett, or "Uncle John Buckerton" as my boys know him. He's totally grabbed their hearts and admiration with his playful spirit, imagination, and love for playing with each of them. I'm so glad to have brothers that my boys can look up to and get excited about spending time with! Here's to you, G - love, we in STL love and miss you! Happy Birthday!

And finally, we've had some gorgeous days here lately, and the boys wanted my help in building a fort in the woods, so we got to work putting tree branches leaned over and stuff. It was fun, and they decided to all have lunch out there, which made for a little "date" for Rhonda and I while the boys ate by themselves! Imagine, all 4 can play without adult supervision for brief periods finally! Life is good!
We sure miss you all, family in Canada and across the States, as well as friends all over the world (who am I kidding, none of our overseas friends read this...). Hey, check out my 7th grade guidance blog (in the blog list)if you get a minute, at least you'll see some of the music my kids at school are into!
